Just For Scouts
OceanQuest supports the scouting missions to prepare young people toward becoming caring and responsible citizens. The OceanQuest mission is to provide quality education through hands-on inquiry based programs that promote responsible actions that preserve and conserve global ecosystems.
OceanQuest is an approved Scout Counselor for several Merit Badges. Scouts can complete many badge requirements during a Discovery Cruise and/or Marsh Walk.
OceanQuest programming addresses requirements for the following badges:
Boy Scouts of America
Requirements 1,2,3, 4* , 5, 6, 7A, 8B and 9
Nature
Requirements 1-3, 4 fish, mollusks and crustaceans, and plants
Environmental Science
Requirements 3A3, B3, and C3and 6
Weather
Requirements 1 and 5
Girl Scouts of the USA
Oceanography
This is offered by The Patriot Trails Council. "Girl Scouts from outside Patriots' Trail Girl Scout Council may earn our Council's Own badges and IPP's. However, you should check with your own council to see if they will accept them towards official recognitions like the Silver Award or Gold Award."

Requirements 2, 5, and 7
Juniors
Requirements 3, 4, 5, 9, and 10
Cadette and Senior
Requirements 1, 2, 3c, d, 4a, b, 5*, 6, 7, 8a, 10a, and 11b

Please note that all the above cannot be fulfilled during one Discovery Cruise or Marsh Walk. We recommend, that all or most of the troop participating in an OceanQuest program be working on the same group of requirements. Please call our office before your program to discuss the specific requirements needed
